THE ART OF JUSTICE
Curated by Shannon R. Mayers

Panel Discussion Topic: Collector Psychology
It is common nowadays to hear in the new about “sex slaves” enduring years of such forced captivity. Some escape or are rescued, but others are killed. Often, their bodies or body parts are kept nearby. Whether their “trophies” are dead or alive, “collectors” share certain traits. In particular, they thrive on feelings of domination. Some believe they’re entitled to do whatever they want to another person. Others insist they were “benefiting” their abductees, e.g., introducing them to sexual pleasure or saving them from a terrible world. They have no empathy or sympathy. To them, others are merely objects for their gratification.
